Gnarls Barkley is an American soul music duo composed of the artists Brian Joseph Burton (known professionally as Danger Mouse) and Cee Lo Green. Their first studio album St. Elsewhere was released in 2006, along With its first single "Crazy". Both singles and albums Were a major commercial success and sono stati Noted for Their large sales by download. The duo released Their second album The Odd Couple in March 2008.
"Crazy" is the debut single from Gnarls Barkley, a musical collaboration Between Danger Mouse and Cee Lo Green, and is taken from Their 2006 debut album St. Elsewhere.
The song was picked up by Downtown Records.
It Became a top ten hit throughout Europe, North America and Australia, in the first half of 2006, reaching number one of the singles charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Canada, New Zealand and other countries.

The song was leaked in late 2005, months before ITS regular release, and consequently Received massive airplay on BBC Radio 1 in the United Kingdom, most Notably by radio DJ Zane Lowe, who used the song Also in TV Ads for His show. When it was finally released in March 2006, it Became the first single to top the British charts on download sales alone. The song remained at number one in the United Kingdom for nine weeks (Which no other song HAD Achieved in over ten years, and was only Surpassed by Rihanna's "Umbrella" in July 2007) before the band and Their record company Decided to remove the single from British stores so people would "remember the song fondly and not get sick of it."

In Spite of this deletion, the song Became the UK's best selling single of 2006. Due to continued download sales, it Reached a million sales in January 2011.
The song won a Grammy Award for Best Urban / Alternative Performance in 2007, and was Also nominated for The Record of the Year in the United Kingdom, 'which it lost to "Patience" by Take That. It was further Top Also nominated and won a 2006 MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song. Also the song was named the best song of 2006 by Rolling Stone and by the Village Voice's annual Pazz & Jop critics poll. The song was listed at # 11 on Pitchfork Media's top 500 songs of the 2000s. The song is also in. the # 45 place in the list of the best songs ever of Acclaimed Music. In 2010, it was Placed at # 100 in the "updated" version of Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" and ranked at the top position of Rolling Stone's top 100 songs of the decade (2000-2009).

VINILE Festival

From vinyl records of 70 'to the futuristic trends of tattoo artists. The rock changes, it evolves over the years and the Citadel, in Padua, for two days of hosting the best live rock music and lifestyle, but also of new musical influences. An idea was born to celebrate the closing of the thirty-seventh season of "Vinyl Club", a local historian Rosa, in Vicenza, has always been a point of reference for the underground Venetian. Special guests The Black Lips (USA).
The style is not just rock decibels. That is in the superb setting of the sports hall will be made for a historic exhibition spaces of vinyl from the Fifties to today, with dozens of exhibitors from all over Italy, but also from Germany. An opportunity for hobbyists and enthusiasts to buy and trade their music in the first exhibition of vinyl to be held in the Citadel. Next, will be celebrated the first tattoo convention in Veneto, with a selection of the best tattoo artists. Each will have a space where to show their creations. But the real news will be the sun, where whoever wants to can get tattooed during the festival or just watch.

The lineup of the festival is still being defined, what's new hours are expected. But the certainty is that the Black Lips, a historic band from Atlanta, Georgia, known for their vintage garage punk they like to call "flower punk." Famous for their live performances to the limit (between 2006 and 2007 Black Lips ended up in the pages of Rolling Stone and The New York Times with fireworks, nudity, vomiting and chickens on stage). In 2007, their first live album titled "Los del mundo nuevo valientes", recorded in a strip joint in Tijuana, Mexico, led them to worldwide fame, even if the tour to India (2009) are nearly arrested on charges of homosexuality because of a kiss (alcohol) that are traded on the stage. Following the album "200 Million Thousand" by 122 dates between Europe and the United States. From here three years must pass before seeing the Black Lips in the studio. This time, however, to accompany the four, there is producer Mark Ronson (producer of Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Robbie Williams and Justin Timberlake), called to give shape to the new job. Arabia Mountain in June 2011 and marks out a small place in the discography of the band: less punk and more pop sounds for more cared for and cleaned. Exclusively for North Italy, we will listen to the Citadel.


The event will be held in case of rain, the main stage is in fact completely covered. Admission is free Saturday, May 26 from 15 to 18. Those who join during this time is entitled to remain free to watch the main concert, starting at 21:00. After 18:00, the ticket costs 15 euros (which adds the right to advance). For pre-sales ticket office is on the circuit and the usual points of sale. Sunday, May 27th admission is free all day, gates open at 15. Points of administration provided food and drinks. A smoking area and outdoor green space for families.

Perfect Day

Lp of the day is Perfect Day, by Lou Reed.

"Perfect Day" is a song written by Lou Reed in 1972, originally featured on Transformer, Reed's second post-Velvet Underground solo album. Its fame was given a boost in the 1990s when it was featured in the 1996 film Trainspotting, and after its release as a star-studded BBC charity single in 1997, which became the UK's number one single for three weeks. Reed re-recorded the song for his 2003 album The Raven.
A cover recorded by Duran Duran reached #28 on the UK Singles Chart in 1995.
The original recording, like the rest of the Transformer album, was produced by David Bowie, with guitarist Mick Ronson providing the arrangement.
The song has a sombre vocal delivery and slow, piano-based instrumental backing balancing tones of sweet nostalgia ("it's such a perfect day, I'm glad I spent it with you") with an undercurrent of menace ("you're gonna reap just what you sow").The  line alludes to Galatians 6:7: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

From a music theory point of view, the song is complex. Where the chorus is in a straight forward major key, the verse cannot be captured in a single key. It starts with the tonic chord of the parallel minor to the chorus key - deceivingly hinting that it is written in that key - but then continues with a number of descending fifths progressions. It eventually ends in the dominant chord of the chorus key, making the song explode into the chorus.
The song's lyrics are often considered to suggest simple, conventional romantic devotion, possibly alluding to Reed's relationship with Bettye Kronstadt (soon to become his first wife) and Reed’s own conflicts with his sexuality, drug use, and ego.
Some commentators have further seen the lyrical subtext as displaying Reed's romanticized attitude towards a period of his own addiction to heroin; this popular understanding of the song as an ode to addiction led to its inclusion in the soundtrack for Trainspotting, a film about the lives of heroin users.
Reed's original recording was featured on an AT&T commercial featuring snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler that ran during the 2010 Olympics.

Skrillex: Bangarang EP, Voltage LP

How the fuck does he make those SKREEWERPPZZZZBLAAW noises? GarageBand? America's dubstep don steps away from the Dark Side on this fizzy, party-ready single. (It will still probably scare your parents, though.)
Don't believe the hype: Skrillex didn't set out to wrestle dubstep from its brainy dub-reggae roots and warp it into an aggro dance-metal hybrid that online haters call "brostep." "I thought I'd play the Echo in L.A. once a month for 150 people," says Sonny Moore, 23, who quit fronting screamo band From First to Last to focus on beatmaking. Instead, Moore has played to thousands almost daily since dropping his first LP, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, last year on Big Beat and his buddy Deadmau5's label.

But he's not surprised by the rapid ascent of dubstep in the United States. "It's so fun," he says. "It just lets so many people in and there's nothing about it that seems shoved down anybody's throats. You can connect with it culturally because it brings so many different types of people together, from ravers to hip-hop people to whatever people like to dance." He's bracing himself for what will happen when the music fully crosses over in the mainstream, though. "There will come a time when it will be watered down and sensationalized like everything else. That's not a bad thing, every type of music goes through that. But right now, for how big it is, if you turn on Kiss FM, there's no real dustup on the radio right now."

Keeping up with the dubstep world has become overwhelming these days with millions of Djs trying to make a name for themselves and of course the massive amount of  electronic adaptation attempts by traditional artists and established stars. However, if there is only one DJ that you keep up with in 2012 than it might as well be Skrillex.

Bangarang EP

The album takes a sharp turn into experimentation starting on "Bangarang" and really takes off into the unknown after that. "Bangarang" is exactly what the dubstep world asked for. A mainstream radio hit that is accessible to the masses and still unique and intriguing enough to appeal to the die-hard, more technical fans of Skrillex and electronic music in general. This track also introduces us to some samples of Sirah, an up and coming female rap/pop talent from Los Angeles. Sirah truly shines on "Kyoto" where she is able to lay down some full bars and present her ambitious delivery style. 

My favorite song from the EP, and by far the most experimental, is "Breakn' a Sweat" featuring the surviving members of The Doors, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore. The track is part of a project knows as Re: Generation.

I also wanted to allude to the upcoming LP Voltage. It was talked about heavily a few months ago but it appears to have lost some steam recently. I wonder if Voltage sort of morphed and dwarfed its way in being Bangarang. Perhaps the rumors of A-list collaborations like Pretty Lights and Nero are holding up the creative process. Maybe he is just taking his time in order to make sure his first full length cut is a fuckin banger! Or the more likely chance that Hollywood politics are slowing down the release of the records just to figure out more ways to make money off the deal. 

Either way I'll be on the look out!

J Dilla's Vinyl

If the news is confirmed by official sources would be as sensational as outrageous: According to The Detroit News website, the record store of the American metropolis would UHF for sale as used about 8000 LPs belonged to J Dilla, the great producer and rapper who has revolutionized the hip-hop before he died prematurely six years ago. According to the store owner Jeff Bubeck, vinyls coming from an abandoned warehouse in the suburb of Clinton Township, where they were, according to Bubeck, including cassette tapes labeled "Jaydee Beats", a nickname used by Dilla, as well as correspondence addressed James Yancey, anagrafe name of the musician struck down by lupus.


Let's go back to say it would be sensational news if confirmed, because the collectors of Dilla is documented, but also scandalous because it is not clear how did the transition between this abandoned warehouse and a shop that sells used records, and given the uniqueness of the character which they belonged would have been more commendable them available to the public without take money. To be sure, Bubeck said he had sought contact with the mother of Dilla, but every attempt went in vain. After this news, should have no problems.

Sex Machine

LP of the day is Sex Machine by James Brown! CMON!


"Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine" (usually known as just "Sex Machine") is a funk song recorded by James Brown in 1970 and released as a two-part single on King Records.
"Sex Machine" was one of the first songs Brown recorded with his new band, The J.B.'s. In comparison with his 1960s soul hits such as "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" and "Cold Sweat", it is notable for the de-emphasis of the horn section. Instead, the song centers on the insistent riff played by brothers Bootsy and Catfish Collins on bass and guitar and Jabo Starks on drums, along with the call and response interplay between Brown and Bobby Byrd's vocals.

The original single version of "Sex Machine" begins with a brief spoken dialogue between Brown and the members of his band, which was recreated (with minor variations) in live performances:

"Fellas, I'm ready to get up and do my thing! (Yeah! That's right! Do it!) I want to get into it, man, you know? (Go ahead! Yeah!) Like a, like a sex machine, man, (Yeah!) movin', doin' it, y'know? (Yeah!) Can I count it off? (Okay! Alright!) One, two, three, four!"

The song's freeform lyrics consist mostly of Brown's exhortations to "Get up / stay on the scene / like a sex machine" along with Byrd's regular shouts of "Get on up." The piece is harmonically static, aside from a move to the subdominant on the bridge.

In 2004, "Sex Machine" was ranked number 326 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.

Other versions

Brown recorded two reworkings of the original: One for his 1970 live album Sex Machine (the studio version appeared on the 1996 compilation Funk Power 1970: A Brand New Thang) and a disco-friendly re-recording (featuring lyrics such as "I'm going to the discotheque", and self references other popular songs and dances of the time) re-titled "Sex Machine Parts I and II" for his 1975 album Sex Machine Today. In the early 1990's, he did an adapted version for Japan's Miso Soup commercials. 

The Flying Lizards recorded a successful cover of "Sex Machine" in 1984 which appeared on their album Top Ten.

In 1986 the Japanese musician Haruomi Hosono and his band F.O.E. recorded vocal and instrumental cover versions of "Sex Machine" for the album F.O.E. #1: Sex, Energy and Star. The instrumental version featured a guest solo by Brown's longtime saxophonist Maceo Parker.

Rare vinyl covers ever seen and a great desire not to let the past disappear. For the fifth year running back on "Record Store Day", the day that celebrates independent record stores. The music festival "to touch". As per tradition, the fans around the world can go to stores participating in the initiative and find records in a limited edition published for the occasion.

Because, as Nick Hornby, High Fidelity with which he helped to create the music of independent shops: "The record stores do not save lives, but they can make it better."

The Record Store Day was born in the U.S., has been conquered England and became a cult event in Italy.

"Our country is the seventh in the world for sales of vinyl," he told Vinyl is Back, Daniel Salvaggio, head of external relations of the Federation of Italian music industry. "The traditional music market continues to suffer from a constant slowdown for several years - he added - but is growing well on digital."

Dire Straits, again!
Communiqué was recorded between November and December of 1978 at Compass Point Studios in Nassau and produced by Jerry Wexler and Barry Beckett. The album was the first LP ever to be entered in the German charts at number one in its first week of release (while their debut album Dire Straits was still at number three in that country). Communiqué has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. In Europe alone has sold 3.6 million copies in the U.S. and has earned a gold record.
The album was remastered and released with the entire catalog of Dire Sttraits in 1996 for the world market except the U.S.. On September 19, 2000 was also published for the American market. The album cover was created by an advertising agency that worked for Phonogram, Grant Advertising UK. The cover won the NME Award for Best Cover of 1979 year.

After the huge critical success, Dire Straits released their second album. I remember when I bought it in Radilux, the record store of Huelva, in the center. I was hoping to get home to put it. I liked the smell again. The plastic coating was virgin vinyl. He was also involved as a white envelope with the lyrics from the back and a picture of the band in black and white. How wonderful. Once removed from the case put in the well and gave the "start" and the arm began to move slowly and precise spiral groove first. Since it is not new to hear the clicks and within seconds begins to sound the Fender Knopfleriada a historical score is then repeated at the beginning of unprecedented concert Alchemy: "Once Upon a Time in the West ..." (5:25 minutes).

The second cut is beautiful: "News". 

The mimosa guitar starts to cry with emotion. The riffs are mixed with long notes and a commo soft touch. The technique is a unique brand that has played with three fingers, while the other two are increasingly focusing on the body of guiatarra. Mark does not usually look at the keys during the game, it is controlled. Sometimes it seems that does not move the fingers and the strings barroqueando is a very smart way. The issue ends with one of the original battery.

In reality, the other cuts are very good and very similar in their sweet and melodic rock. Knopfler writes well and nice, mixing themes of classic and contemporary literature and does it well, "Lady writter" is a good example of this, the choirs, the quick tap and torn and sweet voice of the singer makes a great song. "Angel of Mercy" for the mood of the rock band, a rock de luxe. The issue ends with a chorus sung by the whole band of increasing intensity in unison.

Dire Straits

Dire Straits is the self-titled debut album by British rock band Dire Straits, released in October 1978 (see 1978 in music) by Phonogram Records.
The single "Sultans of Swing" first broke the US top five early spring 1979 (being a hit a full five months after the album was released there) and then rose to #8 in the British charts. "Water of Love" was also released as a single in some countries, and charted in Australia, reaching #54, and in the Netherlands, reaching #28. In Europe, the album sold four million copies while in the U.S. it sold two million copies.
The album was remastered and released with the rest of the Dire Straits catalogue in 1996 to most of the world excluding the U.S. and on 19 September 2000 in the United States. For 2010 release of an anniversary album is planned. 

It will be devoted the 30 anniversary of the edition of a vinyl.

The cover image is taken from a painting by Chuck Loyola, while the Dire Straits Fender icon was designed by Geoff Halpern.

A small number of guitars were used on the album by Mark Knopfler. These included a pair of red Fender Stratocasters (one from 1961-serial number #68354 and one from 1961/62-serial number #80470). He played his 1928 National and 1937 National steel guitars on tracks "Water of Love" and "Wild West End", respectively. A black Fender thinline Telecaster was played on "Setting Me Up". Mark and David also played Mark's sunburst Fender Telecaster. There was also an unidentified acoustic guitar used on several tracks.

The original version of the album contained a slightly shorter version of "Sultans of Swing", omitting the last seconds of the guitar solo at the end of the song, but the full-length version was included on the remastered edition of the album.

Cassette versions of the album often featured the sides in reverse order to the original vinyl album: side A comprised tracks 6 through 9, while side B featured tracks 1 through 5. The French issue of the cassette saw "Down to the Waterline" and "Wild West End" interchanged in the order mentioned above to allow for a more equal playing time on each side.
